Courses:

We also offer a 10 month preparation course for those students who want to gain a perfect portfolio for entrance to their chosen design school.

EIDE Fashion Design & Spanish Course

Escuelas Internacionales Para la Educación y el Desarrollo (EIDE) in Santurtzi, Bilbao, Northern Spain was founded in 1976. It is a private institution whose goal is to promote and develop language courses and degrees in Higher Education, such as Hotel and Tourism, Cooking and Fashion Design. The Fashion Design course is designed for independent or proficient users of Spanish only who wish to improve their Spanish and are interested in earning an official Undergraduate Degree in Higher Professional Education. This course is designed for those interested in developing their professional career in the textile area and fashion design, with the goal of developing their work as pattern-maker, designer, tailor etc. or opening their own company and developing their own trademark and own collections. International students will take the course together with our native Spanish speaking students.

Courses:
Spanish and Fashion Design Degree - 9 months of classes and a 3 month internship in Spain in Spanish companies. An Official Diploma is issued by the Education Authority upon completion of the course and internship period. There is also the possibility to take 3 or 4 month courses. In order to register for the course, students are required to have the Spanish Bachillerato or the equivalent secondary school/high school diploma in their country.

Metáfora Art School in Barcelona

Metáfora is an international art school situated in an old factory building in the centre of Barcelona, capital of the Catalan region in Spain, on the northeast Mediterranean coast. Metáfora is an international centre of Contemporary Art and Art-therapy, offering courses and activities of both disciplines. Students come from all over the world, with an average of 28-29 students each year. The profile of a typical student on the International Workshop is that of a young person aged between 19 and 35 years of age, holder of a degree in Fine Art, Design, Architecture or similar. It could also be a person with some experience in art (min. A-levels) who is preparing entry to higher art or design education (graduate or post-graduate). Our students are expected to posses a large amount of self-discipline and maturity, as well as some basic knowledge regarding different techniques. During free studio time each student works on individual projects, choosing materials and working techniques according to his/her own interest. Thus, while some students can be found working with photography or painting, their fellow students may be working on sculpture, fashion design, performance or installation-making.

Courses:
The International Workshop is a full-time course (in English), designed for young artists and students of Fine Art or Design. As a student on the International Workshop you are welcome to attend the introductory courses in Art-therapy (evening classes) during the year with no additional charge (subject to availability of places). The introductory courses are a requirement for entry to the MA in Art Therapy (Universidad de Barcelona), a Master Degree course which we also run. Teaching on the Art-Therapy and MA courses is exclusively in Spanish.
